Tile Quantity

Estimate tile count for a floor area with a configurable cutting and breakage allowance.

How this calculator works

Enter the values for first value, second value and review the units before calculating.

Formula / method

Tiles = area ÷ tile area × (1 + waste ÷ 100)

Worked example

24 m² using 0.6 m × 0.6 m tiles at 10% waste requires 74 tiles after rounding up.

Assumptions and limitations

Tiles are rectangular and the waste percentage covers cuts and breakage.

Pattern direction, grout joints, room geometry and spare stock can change the required order.
